Action Cancer visit

2nd Jun 2017

Josh, from Action Cancer, came into school today to talk to us about smoking and alcohol. He discussed the dangers of drinking too much alcohol when we are older and the damage it can do to our body. Bethany tried on the organ vest and showed us the difference between healthy organs and organs from someone who has drank a lot in their life; you can see the picture below.

Josh also talked to us about the dangers of smoking. We learned that it only takes three cigarettes before you become addicted and it would be better if we never started. We looked at all the bad things that be found in cigarettes - rat poison, bleach and battery acid are just some things in them! He showed us some pigs' lungs to show the difference between a healthy lung and a lung damaged by smoking.

Hopefully all that Josh talked to us about will stay with us and help us make healthy choices in the future.
