Three Little Pigs Team Challenge

11th Nov 2016

This week we have been looking at the story of The Three Little Pigs.

Mrs Hume put us into teams and set us a challenge.

One group had to build a house with straw.

Two groups had to build a house with sticks.

Two groups had to build a house with blocks (bricks).

We had to work together to build our houses.

We had to make sure that everyone in our team was doing something.

We had to have only one house in our team at the end.

At the end The Big Bad Wolf (Mrs Hume's hairdryer) came along to try to "huff and puff and blow down the house."

We had some surprising results...

The houses that fell were; the straw house, the house built with lollipop sticks, and the coloured brick house.

The houses that stayed up were; the house with paper sticks, and the wooden block house.

We discussed our results and concluded:

The wooden block house stayed up because it had magnets in the blocks that were acting like cement and holding the blocks together.

The house with paper straws bent slightly in the wind, but it must have been so well stuck together that it stood up against the Big Bad Wolf.

We were surprised that the coloured block house fell down, but we decided that it needed something (like cement) to hold the brick together.
