Digesting a banana sandwich
4th Oct 2017
Making the banana sandwich.
We chop and mash our food up in our mouth.
The food travels from the mouth to the stomach by travelling down the oesophagas.
In the stomach enzymes are added to help digest food.
The stomach muscles contract to turn the food into a soup like substance.
Then the food goes into the small intestine where water and nutrients are filtered out.
In the large intestine the last of the useful substances are removed before the waste goes to the toilet.
