In P3 we were very lucky to have a special visitor from Lisburn and Castlereagh Council in school today to speak with us about bats as part of our topic on Light and Dark.
She was keen for us to learn lots about bats and help us realise that we don’t need to be scared of them. We found out what types we have here in Northern Ireland, the sort of foods they like to eat and how they can see in the dark using echo location.
We found out that bats have toenails like us but that they use them to climb and hang onto trees. Some of us even pretended to be a tree so that a taxidermy bat could hang off of us.
