Mummification
26th Apr 2016
As part of our Egyptians topic we got to find out about how and why the Egyptians mummified dead bodies.
We found out about all the different steps involved and realised that it took a long time to mummify someone. We acted out the process of mummification and even wrapped volunteers up to look like they were mummies.
We also went to the Lisburn Linen Museum to make canopic jars out of clay. Egyptians used canopic jars to hold the organs they removed from the body. Each jar had a different head on top to show which organ should go into that jar. It was tricky to make the faces using clay but we did a really good job.
