Tasty Bones
Year 5 have been learning about their body and how they move. To show what the inside of our bones are like Year 5 pupils made some edible bone models.
They learnt that as well as having a hard layer of bone there is also spongy bone inside and that in the middle of our bones there is bone marrow. We also discovered that there is a thin membrane layer around our bone and that there are lots of blood vessels surrounding our bones as well.
Their bone model was much tastier than a real bone as it had jam for the bone marrow, cake for the spongy bone layer and biscuit for the hard outer layer of the bone. The strawberry laces that represented the blood vessels were very popular with the class! Everyone enjoyed making their model, but had even more fun eating it once we were finished.
